Black Cat Slouch Hat
This pattern is so fun to do and perfect for something a little playful. It’s called the black cat because chunky black yarn is used but there is nothing stopping you from making a fun white, brown, grey or even “tabby” cat hat! For tabby, use a variegated yarn. We would recommend Homespun for something cozy and soft. Persialou did such a fabulous job, don’t you think?!
- Super Bulky Yarn – I used Isaac Mizrahi Craft Carlyle Yarn in Roosevelt (just under one ball, 127 yards), which I would say is on the lighter side of the Super Bulky designation. If you use a thicker “super bulky” you may need to adjust your hook and adapt the pattern, see my comments on this in the pattern. Holding two pieces of worsted weight yarn together is a good substitute as well.
- Size L (8.0 mm) Hook (adjust hook if needed to fit yarn)
- Yarn Needle
Now you have a nice long rectangle. Fold it in half widthwise, and work single crochet stitches through both short ends to form a tube. Continue working single crochet stitches across the top of the hat…
Isn’t this fun! Check out the video too!
